Not just another Sunday run

I gave this test a go on Sunday to work out my heart rate training zones. The results were interesting, and a lot different from the ‘220 minus your age’ formula which has been traditionally used to calculate heart rate training zones. I’ll repeat the test a few times over the summer just to confirm the results.
Of course the real test will be whether I’m fitter and faster in 3 months time.

Three months of beer, chocolate and snow and my fitness levels have completely gone to pot.
I couldn't even manage thirteen minutes running at the moment nevermind thirteen miles.

Beer, chocolate and snow sound pretty tempting to me.

I got a Sigma PC9 HRM for Christmas from my brother. Haven't had the patience to work out what it's for really. I'm too bloody knackered while training anyway! Sticking to GPS track analysis and looking at average speeds, distance etc.

My HRM came from my brother as well. It’s a Garmin and up until recently I was really only using the distance/pace data from it. Now that I’ve got a better idea of the heart rate training zones it’s even more useful. I’ve still got plenty to learn about it though.
