“We’re in this together” – David Cameron
Oh are we now.
That’s fucking big of him! I don’t remember being invited to the party when the Champagne and bonuses were being handed out.
...Bring on the revolution.

Captain America calling
I woke up to the momentous news today that US politicians have decided to put their party allegiances to one side in order to save the world from disaster. Fantastic! With climate change/global over-heating threatening mass extinctions and the destruction of human civilisation, this is just the sort of concerted effort we need… wait a minute, that isn’t the sort of disaster they’re talking about.
If only politicians cared as much about people as they do about money.

Rumours of the death of capitalism are premature.
Welcome to Great Britain™ – a subsidiary of Tesco & Lloyds plc.
One of the criticisms I have of free market conservatism (and I have more than one.) is that while it creates the illusion of consumer choice; it actually concentrates power into the hands of an ever decreasing number of multi-national corporations. These unelected corporations have for some time been so powerful that they can dictate to and bully governments and local authorities.
Reading some of the headlines over recent days regarding HBOS et al it would be easy to assume that the wheels have come off the free market conservative bandwagon. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Rather than losing their grip on power the multi-nationals are grasping even more – and Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown are more than willing collaborators in this surrendering of sovereignty.
We should all be concerned. Democracy is being eroded and we don’t get a vote on who runs the policies of these world dominating corporations.
Right wingers are quick to object to powers being ceded to Europe. I wonder if they’ll be as quick to criticise international capitalism.

Dear Diary…
I’ve been looking back over my diary entries from the last few months and it hasn’t been the most productive of summers:
Friday 25th July
…went for ‘long run’ but knee packed in just past Souter… painful, walked back.
Saturday 26th July
Knee feels fucked! Pretty obvious I won’t be able to run for a while.
Monday 25th August
…went for run… BIG MISTAKE! Knee painful after 35 minutes…
I think you get the picture. The real downer is that I’ve had to put on hold any plans I had for the Two Breweries this year. If my knee won’t survive a few miles along the Leas, it certainly won’t survive a long distance fell race. Still, at least I’ve got something to aim for next year. Never give up!
